Bobby Brown Stringless
G&S Australia have just released a limited range of 10 Bobby Brown stringless models. Replicated off the last-ever surfboard he rode and shaped until his untimely death in August 1967, this board still stands in time as one of the last great longboard models before the short-board revolution, and a true testament to Bobby’s craftsmans…hip and design innovation.
Cutloose is stoked to get its hands on the number 3 of 10 board that is shaped and signed by Bobby’s close friend and mentor Floyd Smith who helped Bobby create this model in 1967. These boards are exact replicas and feature full volan glass and glassed on fin with the signature spoon concave. This historic board will be on display at the Cutloose Board Swap this Sunday the 10th April. Get down to the board swap to witness this piece of Australian surfing history!

I surfed at Cronulla in the swinging 60s and often watched Bobby at a smokin’ Cronulla Point. His bottom turns blew everyone away and he always took off so far inside that he either performed a Houdini or the crowd up on the point were treated to an equally spectacular wipeout – he made it most of the time though. I travelled from WA to attend the BB exhibition at Noosa and after this event I was lucky enough to get one of the special edition BB Stringerless longboards through G&S. It is a beautiful example of late 60s workmanship created in 2011 by the man himself, Floyd Smith. Will treasure it for the rest of my days and it will adorn the wall of a house overlooking the sea near Yallingup. In memory of Bobby Brown.
